“They were in gross darkness: poverty ravaged their land like locust. They were all naked: concealing their nudity with fresh leaves (denge) for the women and animal skin (bante) for the men.

Death and diseases were their kinsmen: while life begins at forty for the man in the outside world, theirs expires at forty, any extra is considered ‘unusual’. Nobody in the land was enlightened. All of them were in complete darkness. They are the Koma people”
